Atorvastatin belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver.

Atorvastatin is used to prevent cardiovascular disease in those at high risk and treat abnormal lipid levels.
Commonly reported side effects of atorvastatin includes hemorrhagic stroke, arthralgia, diarrhea, and nasopharyngitis. Other side effects include: urinary tract infection, insomnia, limb pain, muscle spasm, musculoskeletal pain, myalgia, and nausea.
