Finasteride is in a class of medications called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. This medication works by decreasing the amount of a natural body hormone (DHT) that causes growth of the prostate.

It is mainlyused to treat an enlarged prostate or hair loss in men. It can also be used to treat excessive hair growth in women and as a part of hormone therapy for transgender women.
Its side effects includes impotence, loss of interest in sex, trouble having an orgasm, abnormal ejaculation, swelling in your hands or feet, swelling or tenderness in your breasts, dizziness, weakness,feeling like you might pass out,headache, runny nose, or skin rash.
