Medicine Generic: Promethazine Theoclate
Promethazine is in a group of drugs called phenothiazines . It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Promethazine also acts as an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body. Promethazine is a first-generation antihistamine.
1 Tablet BID/ BD (two times a day) or as directed by your physician
Per oral (PO)
It is used to treat or prevent nausea and vomiting caused by anesthesia or surgery, certain types of allergic reactions, pain caused by surgery or childbirth, and to sedate patients before surgery or medical procedures. It may help with some symptoms associated with the common cold.
Drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision, or dry mouth may occur.
