Femitrone contains Norethisterone as the active ingredient which is a progestin (female hormones). It works as part of hormone replacement therapy by replacing the amount of oestrogen in the uterus. It works to bring on menstruation by replacing the natural progesterone that some women are missing. orethisterone works by converting the endometrium from the proliferative to the secretory phase. It delays onset of periods and controls abnormal uterine bleeding and also has contraceptive effects due to negative feedback inhibition of pituitary gonadotropin thus preventing ovulation.
1 Tablet OD (once daily) or as directed by your physician
Per oral (PO)
Femitrone is used in heavy menstrual bleeding, pain during menstruation, endometriosis and breast cancer. It is also mainly used for postponement of menstruation.
Common Side Effects are Headache, Dizziness, Breast tenderness, Nausea, Irregular menstrual cycle, Ovarian cysts.
